Our Story…

Welcome to the Farm…

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by! We’re the King family-just a crew of young farmers working together. Farming isn’t new to us-this lifestyle and hard work have been deeply embedded into us from past generations. We are so honored to provide families with pasture based meats, quality hay and the yummiest Maple Syrup. Come, take a quick stroll through our field lane and we’ll tell you briefly about our farm life.

Around here you’ll find that the New Year ushers in Winter projects and crossing off to-do lists around the farm. That’s not all-we soon start to keep an eye on the weather and get the Sugar Bush ready to tap and gather Maple Sap to turn in to Maple Syrup (liquid gold as we like to say!) Spring ushers in lambing season-a favorite around here. The lambs grow quickly and what a privilege it is to watch them scamper across the green meadows here on our farm in Central PA. Through the late Spring into Early Fall you can often hear the sound of a tractor and baler moving through the fields as we work hard to make quality hay that we sell year-round.

Whether you are here to learn more about our farm operations, get a taste of farm life or catch a simple blog post, we’re so grateful you took the time to stop by! Every single day we are so incredibly thankful for the blessing of living the farm life. Thank you for choosing to support agriculture and help to make our farming dream a reality! We’ll catch ya next time between the fencerows and dusty farm lanes! Thanks for being here! -The Kings

Our Story…

In May 2017 we bought our farm. It was more than just buying a farm but rather one more step in pursuing a dream, a vision, a goal. When we started our family, both Darren and I (Valerie) were working in the healthcare field. When we were blessed with one son and then another we began to have a desire to create an environment that would teach our children the value of hard work, the importance of caring for the land and the blessing of working together. All things we ourselves were privileged to enjoy as we grew up.

There certainly were times that it felt like our fear could clobber our faith. We purchased bare acreage and there was much work to do to make it a functional farm. When you build something from almost nothing it takes grit and grace.

Many a day was spent on a tractor seat for both of us during our busy season of making hay. As for the children? They were tucked safely in a buddy/carseat or in a baby carrier fastened securely to Momma or Dad-along for the ride. As they grew a little older you could find them stomping through a fencerow or running through the fields playing tag while we worked.

Fast forward to today and we are seeing the fruits of our labor-and realizing those long days and short nights were not in vain. As for those little kiddos we started farm life with? Well, they are growing into young men and women-capable of hauling loads of hay to the shed or throwing some sandwiches together for a quick meal in the field on a busy day.

We believe in hard work, taking care of this part of God’s wonderful creation and complete transparency. Your food tells a story and we want to invite you along on this journey of knowing where your food comes from. Here at Stem to Stable we are currently “Providing food for your farm and family” in the best possible way.

Join us as we cover farm life through the hay fields, farm lanes and between the fence rows!
